Founded in Sandwich, New Hampshire, this was one of the first national women's societies in the country. The mission fields, both national and international, are the primary focus of interest and concern.

At the 126th Annual gathering on July 22nd, the society will welcome men and women of all ages as they celebrate this anniversary. Come, join members and friends for a day of inspiration and instruction, with music, good food, good fellowship and an exciting, fascinating story of modern missions.

The Educational Bureau of Ocean Park (Founded in 1885, incorporated in 1888): President, Sandra Kurkjy; Vice President, Nancy Stack; Secretary, Beth Keene; Treasurer, Elinor Smith. The Bureau is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and improvement of the community through activities providing for spiritual, mental and physical needs. The Bureau provides the Daily Vacation Bible School, Craft Classes for children. the Theater/Dance Camp for children and classes on nature and the environment for a variety of age groups. These classes are funded through membership dues, an annual Tag Day, various programs and nominal registration fees (in children's classes). The Bureau owns the Curtis Guest House and The Blake Cottage.

Membership is open to all women in Ocean Park, resident or visitor, at $5.00 per year. Life memberships are $50.00. Men may become patron members by payment of dues.

Ocean Park Religious Society (Founded in 1889): President, Elizabeth Morse; Vice President, Nancy Jackman; Secretary-Treasurer, Alice Hill; Auditor, Elinor Bond Smith.

The stated purpose of this organization is to see "that a regular Sabbath service be held in Ocean Park." It sponsors community worship services at 10:30 am in Porter Hall in the spring each year. This year these worship services will be held on Sundays from May 24th to June 20th.

Toilers-By-The-Sea (Founded in 1902): President, Elizabeth Morse; Vice President, Alice Hill; Secretary, Alice Woodman; Treasurer, Betty Phillips; Fellowship Chairman, Olive Benway; Program, Barbara Gilbert; Devotions, Zella Morgan; Auditor, Glenna Pillsbury. The annual Toilers Sunday is observed each Memorial Day weekend in Porter Hall.

Acquaintance Club (Founded in 1911): President, Marjorie F. Skillin; Vice President, Marion Hager; Treasurer, Glenna Pillsbury; Assistant Treasurer, Betty Phillips; Devotions and Hospitality, Board Members.

Ocean Park Bates Alumni Association (Founded in 1915): The histories of Ocean Park and Bates have been intertwined since Ocean Park's beginning, through several Bates and Ocean Park presidents, faculty and alumni. The Ocean Park chapter of the Bates Alumni Association is believed to be its first chapter and meets at Ocean Park the first Monday in August and is open to students, alumni and friends.

New England Baptist Council (Founded in 1968, continuing a program started in 1915) is under the auspices of The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts (TABCOM) - Executive Minister Linda C. Spoolstra; Director of Camping, Michael Socia.

N.E.B.C. maintains and operates the facilities of the combined areas bounded by Randall Avenue and Goosefare Brook and West Grand Avenue and the Boston & Maine Railroad line. Programs emphasizing older youth, families and specialized ministries to senior citizens and retarded adults are offered at the Oceanwood camping facility and The Pines retirement center.

Monday Night At Porter (Founded in 1924): Co-Chairs: Program, Marjorie F. Skillin and Finance, Dorothy Taylor; Secretary, Sally Lingner; Collector, Mattie Thorburn; Music, Dorothy Gardner.

Monday Night at Porter is open to all Ocean Parkers, young and old, men and women. Meetings are held in Porter Hall with varied and interesting programs - musical, instructive, humorous. Name it and you will find it here, with refreshments too! Bring a friend and join us for Fun and Fellowship!

State of Maine Writers' Conference (Founded in 1941): Co-Chairs, June A. Knowles, Mary E. Pitts; Secretary-Registrar, Elizabeth Morse; Steering Committee: Oscar Greene, Joe Gustafson, Mary Lou Healy, June Knowles, Mary Pitts and Virginia Taylor.

The conference, held in late August for four days each year, provides an informal meeting place and source of instruction and inspiration for persons interested in the literary arts, both prose and poetry, whether they are professionals, amateurs, or non-writers.

Ocean Park Seacoasters (Founded in 1969): President, Zella Morgan; Vice President, Kathryn Moore; Recording Secretary, Elizabeth Allen; Corresponding Secretaries, Morton and Mattie Thorburn; Treasurer, Betty Phillips; Auditor, Albert Phillips; Program and Publicity, Clinton Condict, Olive Benway.

This social group invites men and women, 50 years or over, retired or active, to join in fellowship, covered dish luncheon, business and a program on the second Thursday of each month, October through May in Jakeman Hall.

Ocean Park Historical Society (Founded in 1976): President, John Morrill; 1st Vice President, Marjorie Skillin; 2nd Vice President, Robert Pease; Secretary, Ellen Licato; Treasurer, Dean Lyons; President Emeritus, Charles P. Swan; Membership, Dorothy Gardner; Program, Marjorie Skillin; Artifacts Custodian, Dean Lyons; Coordinator between the Historical Society and the OPA Archivists, Helen Condict; Tag Day, Robert Pease.

This organization was founded by its first President, Charles P. Swan, to present programs of a historical nature and to work, in various ways, to preserve the heritage of Ocean Park. Donations of clothing, pictures (photos or postcards) and other artifacts of early Ocean Park (19th Century and into early 1900's) are welcome -contact Joan Morrill, 934-7173 or Marge Skillin, 934-4221. Meetings are held in Porter Hall on alternate Fridays. The Society maintains the Ocean Park Historical Room in Porter Hall which is open following each Temple Sunday Service from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Regular membership is $3/year, sponsors $10/year and friends $25/year.

Saco Bay Artists (Founded in 1995): President, Elizabeth Shore; Vice President and Historian, Iona Desmond, Recording Secretary, Elizabeth Conley; Corresponding Secretary and Membership, Carol Bondenson; Treasurer, Gretchen Gosselin.

The Art Center at Ocean Park was established primarily to provide art exhibit opportunities, classes, workshops, painting trips and fellowship. While formed by a group of area artists, membership is open to all regardless of where they may reside.
