Employment
There is one open position: Music Director
TITLE: Music Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
Founded in 1881 as part of the Chautauqua movement, Ocean Park is a seaside community dedicated to spiritual enrichment, lifelong learning, culture, and fellowship. For generations, music has played a central role here—gathering people to sing, worship, celebrate, and experience the arts together. The Ocean Park Association (OPA) invites applications for the position of Music Director to guide and inspire this treasured musical tradition.
The Music Director leads the musical life of Ocean Park during the summer season, directing the volunteer choir, supporting ensembles, collaborating with clergy, coordinating guest musicians, and shaping the artistic vision for worship services and cultural events. The role also includes year-round remote planning and committee collaboration.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled conductor and musician who is community-oriented, flexible, and warm—someone who values participation as well as artistry, and who can foster a joyful, inclusive musical environment rooted in the spiritual and cultural identity of Ocean Park.
This is a seasonal onsite role from mid-June through Labor Day, with a weekly stipend, summer housing, and travel support provided. Approximately 5 hours per week of remote planning and communication continue throughout the year.
This position offers the opportunity to steward an enduring musical legacy in a place where tradition, creativity, and community spirit come together by the sea.
