Nature & Trails
There are several Ocean Park trails. Three are open to the public year round and are described below in the brochure “Trails, Plants and Birds in Ocean Park, Maine.”
Download the Brochure* for more information and a detailed list of birds, plants, and a map of the trails in Ocean Park updated as of 2014 by Bethany Nichols and John Bird.
While exploring the Guild Park Trails, discover the Guild Park Memorial Covered Bridge, located diagonally across from Bridge Street. It was erected in 1944 and dedicated to all the veterans of WWII. The bridge spans the brook near the upper end of Temple Avenue leading into the cathedral pine grove known as Guild Park. In 2012 it was rededicated to honor all veterans who served on behalf of the United States. Maps and walking trail guides for all of Ocean Park and Old Orchard can be requested at the shuffleboard courts.
Please respect trail boundaries, pets should be leashed or clearly under an owner’s control and waste material should be removed.
*Original contributors to the brochure included:
Genevieve (Mrs. Phillip) Webb. She compiled a detailed listing of birds that can be seen in Ocean Park. Mrs. Webb was an authority on local ornithology, had been a member of the Maine Audubon Society and was a director of the Maine Chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
