Wednesday Evenings at Jordan
Evenings of music and entertainment are presented on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm in Jordan Hall.
Programs feature vocal and instrumental artists who have been making music in Southern Maine for many years, as well as newcomers who will surprise and delight audiences with the freshness of their performances. Cost: $5.00.
July 9: Ian Mackenzie & Cilantro.
Ian Mackenzie has lived in Ocean Park for over 15 years and has been singing and playing acoustic guitar since he was a teenager. He has played solo at numerous places in Maine including Jonathan’s Restaurant, the Webfoot Inn, and the Bowdoinham Concert Series at Mailly Waterfront Park. He is joined by Cilantro which features tight harmonies in classic rock n’ roll, folk rock, ballads and standards.
July 16: Port City Sound.
With an average age of 80, the members of Port City Sound comprise one of the finest “Seniors” quartets in the Barbershop Harmony Society. While they are widely known throughout New England (where they rank in the top 10 among quartets of all ages), they achieved world-wide attention when they performed an impromptu song aboard a delayed US Air flight at Reagan International Airport that went viral.
July 23: The Hyperion Trumpet Ensemble.
Hyperion is a collaboration between some of Maine’s best. Members are graduates of music schools across the country. In addition to frequent solo performances, they have performed with the Portland, Bangor, Cambridge, and Midcoast Symphony Orchestras, Symphony New Hampshire, the Apollo Ensemble of Boston, the Philadelphia Brass Quintet, the Mainstreet Brass Quintet, Classical Uprising, and many other musical organizations throughout Maine and the Northeast.They come together with three goals; to play great trumpet ensemble music to the highest possible standard, to have fun while performing, and to entertain their audiences.
July 30: Stephanie Babirak
is a professional harpist based in New York City and she grew up in Scarborough, Maine. To date, Stephanie has performed at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Terminal 5. In addition to touring nationally, has performed internationally in Canada, Scotland and The Bahamas. She has also worked with Indie and major label artists including The Joy Formidable, Adele, and Andra Day. Her playing has been featured on USA Network’s television series “Mr. Robot” and the 2018 Super Bowl commercial for the Hyundai Genesis. When not harping, Stephanie enjoys the companionship of her best friend, Dolores the dog.
August 6: BB & J and Company.
Bob & Joyce and Company have been performing together for over six years at various venues including The Gorham House, The Atria, The Peppermill, Lilac City Grille, Run of the Mill, York Harbor Inn & many others. They perform with a variety of musicians depending on the venue & have a diverse set list including Classic Rock, Country (old & new), Easy Listening, Blue Grass & some Old Time Favorites. They cover songs from artists including Patsy Cline, The Beatles, Beach Boys, Miranda Lambert, The Eagles, Allison Krauss, Crosby Stills & Nash, Linda Ronstadt & John Denver just to name a few.
August 13: Ocean Park Temple Brass.
Directed by Daniel Evans. The Ocean Park Temple Brass has been a mainstay of musical support for Sunday morning worship services in the Temple for decades. Presenting repertoire from well-known hymns to challenging arrangements of sacred and secular favorites, the group has uplifted and inspired several generations of our members and visitors. They have provided the Ocean Park community and Wednesday Evenings at Jordan with high quality entertainment for over 20 years.
August 20: The FLUKES (Fun-Loving Ukulele Society).
An Ocean Park favorite directed by Nina Allen Miller, The FLUKES boast a membership of over 35 ukulele musicians. They have built a repertoire from many different musical genres. They have triumphantly performed throughout New England, including performances with the Portland Symphony Orchestry at “Magic of Christmas” and can be seen on the RENY’s commercials.
