Independence Day Celebrations
Ocean Park’s Independence Day Celebrations include a Fourth of July parade with floats, marching band, kazoo band, decorated bicycles and more! The parade is followed by a patriotic band concert at the Bell Tower. There is an all day art show at the Town Square, and the day ends with a community square dance.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 3
Don’t forget about the Annual Sandcastle Competition which will be held from 2:00 pm -5:00 pm at Randall to Ancona Ave. Beaches. For details, see Sand Castle Competition.
THURSDAY, JULY 4
8:30 am Decorated Bicycle Contest Rec Hall
Kids, decorate your bikes at home and bring them to the Rec Hall for judging. Prizes for the top 3 finishers! Then ride them in the Parade!
9:00 am-4:00 pm Art Show and Sale by Saco Bay Artists Library Lawn
9:30 am Ocean Park Band rehearsal Porter Hall
9:55 am Kazoo Band line up/practice for parade Bell Tower
No director, no music…no problem! Open to all ages
10:00 am 74th Annual Independence Day Parade Bell Tower
Open to all ages (costumes encouraged!). Led by the color guard and the Ocean Park Band, the Parade forms on Temple Ave. at the Bell Tower. The marshal of the Parade is Frank Gwalthney. Free popsicles are provided for all young parade participants at the Bell Tower after the Parade, courtesy of Steven and Judy Breitmaier, owners of The Soda Fountain & Variety Store.
10:45 am Ocean Park Band Concert the Temple
The Ocean Park Band, celebrating its 50th anniversary, will offer an Independence Day celebration concert following the parade featuring popular patriotic marches such as Souza, Fillmore, Cohen and others.
7:00 pm Community Square Dancing Village Square
Square dance caller Denise Carbonell will bring some fun and energy to square dancing that will send your blues packing! Come on down and scoot your boot!
