Illumination Night
36th Annual Festival of Lights
SATURDAY, AUGUST 3
Welcome to the annual Ocean Park Community Festival of Lights, with music and food that celebrates the family-friendly spirit that makes Ocean Park a special place. Illumination Night is a collage of the activities and experiences that make up a summer in Ocean Park. No admission!
- 9:00 am-4:00 pm: Art Show and Sale by Saco Bay Artists on the Library Lawn.
- 4:00 pm: Ocean Park Band Rehearsal at the Rec Hall.
- 6:30 pm: Ocean Park Band Concert at the Bandstand. (Held in the Temple in the event of rain)
- 6:30 pm: The Strawberry Shortcake Festival in front of Jakeman Hall. Bring your lawn chair and sit by the Bandstand while enjoying this traditional summer treat! Donation: $5.00.
- 8:00 pm: The annual “walk about” from street to street and onto the beach. View lighted cottages, experience the sights and sounds, and chat with fellow strollers. Be sure to experience lighting your candle on the beach starting at the end of Sandpiper and please exit to the left on Weymouth Ave. Candles donated by the Youd Family.
- 9:00 pm: The Dunlap Highland Band will be at the Bandstand. We welcome back this 20-member band of pipers and drummers who play to large and enthusiastic audiences every Illumination Night. Under the direction of Pipe Major George Pulkkinen and Drum Major Dan Bernardini, the band has both adult and youth members. The performance begins after the light viewing.
