This year Art in the Park will be expanded to a celebration of Arts in the Park. In addition to our plein art artists, who will be painting around town from Sunday, July 13 to Wednesday, July 16, culminating in a Wet Paint Art Show and Sale on Wednesday evening, we will also have a guest artist talk on Monday, Art Camp run by the Educational Bureau in the mornings, art classes to sign up for to create art for yourself, music events and more. The week of Arts in the Park, look for a brochure detailing the schedule of events.
This year we are excited to welcome 6 acclaimed plein air artists: Melanie Barash Levitt, Bill Paarlberg, Charlotte Thibault, Diane Vanaskie Mulligan, Sara Gray and Liane Whittum who will be found creating their artwork around town in the open air. Please follow the Ocean Park Association Facebook page to see where the artists will be painting each day, and a posting will also be displayed outside Jakeman Hall. All paintings will be displayed at the Wet Paint Sale Art Show at the Temple on July 16. All sales go through the Ocean Park Association.
- July 13: Artists arrive in Ocean Park and begin painting
- July 13-16: Meet & Greet all day long- Walk around town to find artists at work. They invite you to come meet and talk with them about their work anytime throughout the day.
- July 16: 5:00-7:30 PM: Wet Paint Sale Art Show & Reception at the Temple – New this year at the show will be a youth art scavenger hunt with art related prizes for those who complete the art hunt.
There will be a special presentation offered by guest artist, Amalia Tagarus, on July 14, 10:30 AM at Porter Hall, who will share her work and techniques surrounding the interesting medium of encaustic wax. No cost, sponsored by the Saco Bay Artists.
